 Let the Moment Speak

— A one-of-a-kind piece created just for you —

“Sometimes, a single line can shift the landscape of your life.”

In the quiet moments of everyday life, a single phrase on the wall can gently offer us strength.

Something to anchor us. Something to remind us of who we are.

Each custom-made piece begins not with a brush, but with a conversation. Whether the work is for yourself or for someone special, we begin by discovering the words that matter most to you—right now, in this season of your life.

Rooted in the spirit of ichigo ichie—“one time, one meeting”—each commission is more than a product. It’s a reflection of a moment that will never come again, shaped quietly through conversation.

While most pieces are created as traditional hanging scrolls (kakejiku), I also welcome special requests such as canvas or board formats. Each calligraphy is signed with my gago (calligrapher name): Fuh-mi.

Process for Commissioning a Hanging Scroll (Kakejiku)

    1.    Reaching Out

Everything begins with a simple message.

You’re welcome to contact me through the form or by email (contact@naokomikami.com).

At this stage, you don’t need to have clear words in mind—curiosity alone is enough.

    2.    Dialogue & Discovery

Through email or a Zoom conversation, we take time to talk. About your space, your intentions, or the person this work is for. Often, the most meaningful words emerge not from preparation, but from dialogue itself.

    3.    Proposal

From our conversation, I create 5 complete calligraphies and share them with you as photographs.

You choose the one that resonates most. One refinement round of 3 calligraphies is included at no charge. Further adjustments can be discussed, but may incur a fee.

    4.    Quotation & Order Confirmation

Once the work and format are chosen, I will send a formal quotation based on size and options. With your approval, the commission is confirmed.

    5.    Payment

A 50% deposit is requested before the mounting process begins.

Payment can be made via credit card, international transfer or Japanese bank transfer.

    6.    Mounting & Completion

The scroll mounting process takes approximately three weeks.

When the work is complete, the remaining 50% payment is requested.

    7.    Shipping

Finished works are carefully packaged and shipped via EMS.

Please note that customs duties may apply depending on your country.

Japanese Calligraphy

A Final Note: Let Words Light the Space

Calligraphy is not simply for decoration. It is a way to light a small fire; one that quietly transforms the atmosphere, and settles the mind.

Every piece I create is shaped through a singular encounter.

A moment shared, never to be repeated—yet remembered in ink.

Whether it’s for your home, your office, or someone close to you,

I’d be honored to create something just for you.

“We are delighted to welcome Fuh-mi’s calligraphy  Infinity  to our JAPANNEXT office in Tokyo.  This artwork beautifully embodies the spirit of growth and innovation that we cherish.

At JAPANNEXT, we continually strive to embrace new challenges in the deskwork and the gaming monitor industries, and Infinity serves as an inspiring symbol—a reminder of our commitment to reaching even greater heights in the future.”

Samuel Becker, founder & CEO — JAPANNEXT

“Seido is a Japanese martial arts equipment brand that focuses on providing high-quality, made-in-Japan gear.

Staying true to the spirit of Bunbu Ryodo—the philosophy that martial arts should always go hand in hand with literacy—we wanted to offer high-quality calligraphies for our customers to display in their private dojos.

Japanese martial arts are rich in ancient wisdom, and having that wisdom beautifully displayed on a wall creates the perfect atmosphere for dedicated training.

Fuh-mi’s calligraphies have helped us share this aspect of Japanese martial arts culture with people all over the world.”

Jordy Delage, founder & CEO — SEIDO

“I am honored to have the calligraphy  Hajime  displayed at SEARCH SIMPLE.

Perhaps the simplest character—consisting of only one straight line—it nevertheless contains a rich combination of ink flow within that line. Representing both the number one and the Zen concept of the beginning of all things,  Hajime  resonates deeply with our mission as a headhunting firm. It embodies the essence of initiation—the first step in one’s career journey, a moment that holds immense potential and profound meaning.

The elegance and simplicity of Hajime serve as a constant reminder of the foundational role we play in helping individuals start their new paths with purpose and clarity.”

Kristian Francis, founder & CEO — SEARCH SIMPLE

“Although my profession is hairstylist, I have spent a significant part of my time over many years teaching both the artistic and technical aspects of hair styling to people of all ages and levels.

While in charge of creating teaching materials and programs at L’Oréal France, I discovered the Japanese concept of 守破離 (Shu-ha-ri), which signifies the stages of mastery—from learning the fundamentals to breaking away and achieving true artistry.

This deeply resonated with my journey as a hairstylist and with what I was trying to pass on to the next generation. In our profession, the path from craftsmanship to artistry is essential.

I now own Fuh-mi’s calligraphy of 守破離; it’s a constant reminder of the dedication required to reach new heights. I often take it with me to show to apprentices because it perfectly encapsulates the philosophy I strive to embody in my work every day.”

Eric Leturgie, founder & CEO — CutMeGo, LLC

“It is truly special for me to acquire an artwork that embodies both profound idealistic and monetary value.

Fuh-mi’s piece, I am my own lord throughout heaven and earth, carries a message of empowerment and inner strength, one that resonates deeply with my family and me. As someone captivated by Japanese culture, philosophy, and the dedication to craftsmanship, I found her work to be a perfect reflection of these qualities.

This piece will serve as a reminder of the strength that comes from within, especially for those of us navigating challenging paths. I am grateful to Fuh-mi for sharing such an inspiring message through her art, and I look forward to exploring more of her thoughtful creations in the future.”
