What Japanese Aesthetics Taught Me About Communication
Twenty years ago, I thought good communication meant explaining everything as clearly as possible. A conversation I overheard at a university seminar—and a recent encounter with Roland Barthes’ Empire of Signs—made me question that assumption. Perhaps the deepest understanding doesn’t come from saying more, but from leaving just enough space for others to discover meaning themselves.
